On June 24, 2023, we celebrate four decades of serving our broker and employer partners with comprehensive employee benefit solutions. Reaching a milestone of 40 years in business is no small feat. It is a testament to our dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment. Since 1983, we’ve grown and changed with the economy and the workforce and pride ourselves in being a leader in employee benefits administration.

Over the past four decades, we’ve worked hard to build a reputation focused on personalized service. We work closely with our broker partners to understand the unique requirements of each client, offering tailored solutions to meet their needs. The Beginning

Medcom Benefit Solutions was not always the company it is today. In fact, we weren’t even called Medcom. We started as Florida Health Alliance, a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). We were a third-party administrator (TPA) helping companies manage and reduce their annual healthcare costs, as medical expenses were going through the roof at the time. Tyler Potterfield, a Northwestern life insurance agent, was the one that started it all. He planned that Medcom would remain lean and administer the claims for less than the larger insurance companies providing savings to its clients.

2000s

• Medcom partners with Marsh McLennan Agency
• Medcom begins administering HRAs in 2003
• COBRA department splits off from CDHP in 2004
• Medcom begins administering Commuter Benefits and HSAs
• Correctional department is formed in 2007
• Medcom exits the TPA business

2010s

• Compliance department is formed
• ACA department created in 2015
• Medcom partners with Assurex Global
• In 2016, we begin the development of the Medcom Bridge platform
• In 2018, we update our logo to the current one
• CDHP moves to Alegeus
• Installation of Wi-fi into the building!
• In 2019, Medcom partners with Earth Charter International
• In 2019, we launch our new redesigned website

The start of the 2020s was hard on many companies, but Medcom persevered. We focused on employee safety and getting everyone working from home. Once cases started going down and it became a little safer to be around each other, we shifted into a hybrid work schedule. We worked with our employees’ schedules to give them the flexibility of working from home and in the office.

Today we are a highly developed employee benefit and correctional health organization with five operating divisions, all focused on delivering world-class professional service to each of our broker partners. Our people are what sets us apart from our competitors. Without their resilience and dedication, we would not have come as far as we have.
